Fife's Trees, Woods and Forests

Celebrating special trees and woodlands and community action to expand tree cover across Fife.

Very narrow panel of grass (3 metres). Same restrictions re lights, underground services, proximity to road. Leave as wildflower or V small tree/ shrub planting.  Road sign needs to be visible.

Buchanan court

Resident requested a Rowan tree to replace a tree that has been lost.  Also potential to explore tree planting in grass areas.

Grass semi circle planted by Growing Kirkaldy.  Planting on this section could shade existing planting.  Could be complimented by planting in other grass panels either side.

Very narrow panel of grass 3m, issues with proximity to road, lights, underground services. Very exposed sites. Leave as wild grass or shrub planting.

Grass panel - empty no obvious services. Close to car park. Set back from road.   Managed by Growing Kirkcaldy- scope to compliment planting the group have already done.  Few trees in each section - to be symmetrical.  Check root growth won't impact on infrastructure.  Pine for impact/ height/ Rowan for diversity).

Panel of grass 4.5 - 5 m wide.  Very exposed site. Lighting services running underneath. Potential to break up and give height with tree acting.. Next to carriage way.

Small grass panel. Evidence of some service- hatch water? 16m x 8 m.

Small grass panel. 6x 8m but not square. Set back from road but near car parking area.

Narrow grass strip 4m - issues with lights,  underground services, proximity to road. Exposed site.

Larger grass panel- evidence of service. 10 m wide. Most potential for grass panels.

Blank grass panel. No obvious underground services. Near to car parking.  12 m by 6 m

Trees in gardens.

Panel of grass. 5m wide. Very exposed to wind.  Next to road and street lights so under ground services may be an issue.  Would have big impact.

Buchannan court

Grass panels outwith gardens. Would compliment garden planting.

Standing Stone Walk

Land owner is Fife Council. Amenity cut grass with several mature trees...London Plain, Beech and Sycamore I think)...no succession planning. One of the few green spaces within the housing scheme which is biodiverse low. Local Nursery, Primary School and ASN Services close by.

This used to be woods

When I was a kid I could throw and stone and it would hit a tree- we have lost lots of woodland.

Plant orchard and create food growing on land opposite Benarty centre

could have islands of trees here for interest.

Growing space

Allotment site or community garden- everyone could access this.  Kids might wreck it though.  I'd like paths in any garden to walk with kids.  Planting for pollinators.

Put fruit trees on land near Benarty Primary school

Westwood Cresent

Grass pane - potential for tree island here

Used to be trees

now an unloved greenspace

Trees removed approx 5 years ago
